PCI and PCIx compatible Radio Clocks, PCI express Clocks
PCI / PCI-X compatible Clocks
MEINBERG PCI/PCIX Computer Clocks will synchronize the system time of PCI/PCI-X computers and provide an Application Programming Interface (API) to read accurate and precise time from within your own application.
PCI-X increases the transfer rate beyond the maximum rate achievable by conventional PCI. Since this generally applies to expansion cards used in network servers or hard disk controllers, PCI-X slots are usually found on special server mainboards. The fastest bus clock of a PCI-X v1.0 slot is 133 MHz, and these slots support 3.3V signal levels only. However, the PCI-X bus specification is backward compatible with the conventional 3.3V PCI specifications, so conventional 3.3V PCI cards which support up to a 66 MHz bus clock can be installed in a PCI-X slot. Since all Meinberg PCI cards meet these requirements, all Meinberg PCI cards can be installed in PCI-X slots
PCI Express Clocks
PCI Express is the latest implementation of the PCI bus, which is only software-compatible with other PCI bus specifications. The PCI Express hardware layout is totally different (it is not possible to install a PCI Express card in a PCI/PCI-X slot or vice-versa).PCI Express has been designed to yield a high transfer rate across a low number of data lines, and is based on a high speed serial protocol similar to LAN or IEEE1349 (Firewire) connections. A single PCI Express slot can implement several such „lanes“ in parallel to multiply the transfer rate of a single lane. Meinberg offers PCIe timing devices for computer and network synchronization in both low-profile and regular sizes.
